For UCSF employees and learners

UCSF Family Services is pleased to announce the launch of a new resource for our community beginning in January 2025: a virtual support group for caregivers of older loved ones. This pilot program, made possible by a UCSF Community Well-being Grant, reflects our leadership’s commitment to supporting our employees and learners who shoulder caregiving responsibilities, who are part of the sandwich generation — adults who simultaneously care for their elderly relatives and their children – as well as those solely caring for their older relatives.

We recognize the unique challenges faced by those caring for aging family members. Many caregivers experience feelings of isolation, stress, and uncertainty as they balance work, study, and family obligations. This new support group aims to alleviate these feelings by providing a safe, accepting space to share experiences, discuss common challenges, and connect with others who are navigating similar situations.

Key benefits of joining the support group include:

Community Connection: Foster acceptance and a sense of belonging among peers who understand the complexities of caregiving.
Resource Sharing: Access valuable insights, strategies, and resources from fellow caregivers and UCSF.
Emotional Support: Alleviate isolation by connecting in a supportive, understanding environment.

We invite all UCSF employees and learners who are actively caring for older loved ones to join us in this shared journey. Together, we can support one another in creating a thriving, inclusive community.

To register for the support group, please complete our questionnaire, which lists meeting times and dates.

Family Services welcomes all UCSF employees and learners, including people with disabilities, to our events. To request a reasonable accommodation based on disability, please e-mail myfamily@ucsf.edu as soon as possible.
